GPI Atlantic Youth is excited to announce a new research and leadership program for young people interested in understanding, exploring and fostering community wellbeing called Stories of Amazing Resilience (SOAR): Youth Leaders for Community Wellbeing. Through workshops, study visits, training sessions, conferences, and participatory learning experiences, the GPI Youth Leaders for Community Wellbeing program offers youth the chance to develop the skills needed to investigate the resilience and wellbeing of their own and other’s communities, and then put their research skills into action. This program engages youth to participate in youth-adult partnerships in researching the problems that youth face as well as the strengths of youth in promoting positive community development, as opposed to the more common approach of youth being accessed and assessed by a party further removed from their specific concerns. The Youth Leaders for Community Wellbeing program intends to build youth capacity and youth-led community wellbeing initiatives through the following components:
