The GPI Atlantic Youth Program was born just prior to the Rethinking Development Conference, held in June 2005. Youth aged 13-17 participated in a camp before and during the conference. Young adults participated in a youth work/study program prior to and during the conference. They helped with every aspect of the organization and fully participated in the conference proceedings. Both groups of youth had the opportunity to participate in special youth-only workshops with many of the conference presenters. Ninety percent of the comments received from participants after the conference mention the invaluable contribution of the youth delegates as one the highlights of their experience.
Enthusiasm and energy from the youth who participated in the conference fuel continuing activities and programs. Calling themselves GPI Youth they continue to be active both as individuals and as a group. If you would like to be notified about GPI Youth events and activities, please email Gwen Colman, Youth Program Director, gwen@gpiatlantic.org.
Covenant and Principles for Honouring Children
A Covenant for Honouring Children produced by Raffi and the Troubador Foundation, is consonant with the GPIAtlantic vision of measuring sustainable development to leave a secure legacy for our children and for future generations.
